The White Horse,Rupert Street,Soho, London September 2014
Another favourite of ours,The White Horse ,Soho. Carrying on the tradition of a Sunday dinner session. Another Sam Smiths pub, controversial choice to the Southern flat lifeless beer lovers.

Me and Hollie in our London local, September 2014,The Duke of Argyll or the "D of A" as we called it. Our Soho H.Q. for many years whenever we visited the capital. A short while after this, the whole pub was gutted, refurbished, and to our minds totally ruined, the heart and soul was ripped out of our beloved London base. We have never been in since, Although we followed the Landlord and Landlady, ...

Apart from last Octobers worst ever flood The previous one was in 1977.
I remember the almost annual floods very well. The water often came along Cromford Road to Smith's Mill, causing the Coop to close for the duration.
No comparison British the best, minimal smoke
Poor brits don't have a jet bomber anymore..
How much for a pint of plain?
I haven't been in for a while But I'm guessing it will be around a fiver a pint.
The B52 is a lumbering giant with 30 minutes take off alert. The Vulcan was a tactical ground hugger with only a 4 minute QRA. Both were lethal at their job. But for sheer display impact a Vulcan always steals the show.
In hindsight we know the B-52 was the clear winner... it's expected to remain in service until at least 2045.
The first, just a loud jet airplane; The second one, an elegant howling jet powerd dream :-)
609,000 viewers think otherwise.
@ginnerthetosser How Vulcans are still flying...
@@ginnerthetosser There are more simple people than elegant ones ;-)
Aah... How I miss the Cold War days.
Used to live in Eastwood mate so remember this
The area has changed beyond recognition.
Wow what a time machine, thanks for posting
I'm surprised how many people have liked and commented.Thank you.
Just noticed your username, one tosser to another. Now subbed 😅
Welcome aboard 😉👍
Amazing footage!
Glad you enjoyed it
Where is this?
It's a place called Langley mill. It's a border settlement on the Nottinghamshire , Derbyshire border. It was highly industrial employing thousands upon thousands
The Vulcan sounds like it means business.an angry sound. It just looks the part . British engineering at its finest from a time when workers wore overalls and puffed on a pipe whilst refuelling an aircraft.
Certainly not built to the same standards of American jet bombers... the UK no longer even has a jet bomber.
Batman’s private jet😊
The Gotham growler 😉
These were great times to visit London. It was still an English city then. British culture and history were everywhere. I loved the Tower of London and the museums. Just walking through the city and taking in the ambiance was fun. The architecture was also interesting It was fascinating to observe how they blended old London with the modern buildings. A friend explained to me that although many of the Victorian era brick buildings were completely destroyed by the German bombings during WW2, many that were only partially destroyed were preserved, reconstructed, and repurposed. You can clearly see the crude joinings on many of these buildings. If you love history it was just a cool place to visit. You could safely walk the streets, hop on the Underground, or take the buses from place to place in most areas. Knifings and acid throwing were not a thing. My favorite thing though was to rent a car and drive out into the country areas. Cold, but very beautiful. I used to buy all kinds of little souvenirs from old shops along the way. London doesn't look anything like this now, and it certainly isn't English anymore. My last visit there was a few years ago in 2019 just before the 'pandemic', and I was shocked at how much it had changed. The native culture is gone. And in many parts of the city you hardly even see any indigenous English people on the streets. It was as if they had just vanished and were replaced by a hodge-podge of foreigners. I'm not British, but I cried a little inside. It was a very sad thing to see.
Perfectly described my friend. We are dismantled.
The Vulcan is a lot less airplane than the Buff.
Highly debatable
When london wasnt third wolrd city
Absolutely. It definitely is now 😡
These time machine videos are great.
Glad you like em Ben 👍
A lot of mine on you tube go back yonks.
Good old 747 🥹
What can be more life affirming than an Avro Vulcan spooling-up, and howling down the runway at full chat? Fabulous, thank you for posting!!!
Thanks Greg. The amount of negativity regarding the Vulcans demise and the B52 still in service is saddening. Glad you liked my video.👍
In hindsight we know who built the better jet bombers...
B52 I only just made it off the ground Avro Vulcan I fly with ease
The Vulcan was by far the coolest and most awesome plane the British have ever built.
The world has lost it's way mate. Our working mens club is now a Spar where do people go now nowhere!!!!
This once thriving placeis a mere shadow of its former self.We have lost almost a dozen pubs, clubs and the welfare. I'm pleased I'm the age I am.
@@ginnerthetosser I buggered off to France had enough.
Maybe not.but we Infiltrated U S. Airspace twice....looks that up.,😉
American B1 blows away the Vulcan... Britain never achieved a supersonic bomber.
THE VULCAN EVERY TIME WONDERFUL 🇬🇧😄🇬🇧✌🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧
Whadda girl!
You can just imagine the Vulcan Captian...no command given to increase throttle. Just a simple. "Release hell."
THE. VULCAN. HOWL!
very cool
W. O. W.
Well there went the B52, belching and coughing, wheezing and farting into the air. While the Vulcan sprinted down the runway like a cheetah and leaped into the air like a gazelle!! A bomber that identifies as a jet fighter!!😂😂🇬🇧
Spot on description 😊
B-52 still flying today and expected to remain in service until 2050... Vulcan were scrapped long ago.
This is a take off comparison. Not about longevity.
@ginnerthetosser The Vulcan doesn't take-off anymore at all... it's no longer relevant. The UK no longer has a jet bomber and no longer makes its own jet aircraft..
@@sandervanderkammen9230 And your point is???😂😂😂
A Legendary Howl, never forgotten. I'm just sad My young Son & girls will never hear it & feel the Pride we all did
I feel exactly the same way for my 8 year old God son who is aircraft crazy.😕
bro when did you record this. british airways 747s are retired
Think it was 2018.
@@ginnerthetosser thank you
One of the two is still in active service…
And???
@@ginnerthetosser enough said.
One of the two was a much better aircraft made by a more successful company....
i thought they grounded the 747s with british airways
That's right.this was some years ago.
WOW A 747 THATS INCREDIBLE
It was great standing there watching them roaring over 👍
You can hear the Vulcan start to spool up @ 0:42, the "howl" starts @0:52
Ahhh so THAT'S where they got the T-rex roar from for jurassic park. 😂
Comparisons take of time. B52 30secs', Vulcan 17secs. But the B52 is still flying having had an engine refit, with US built RR engines, and the Vulcan is a museum piece.
The F130s being installed on the B-52 are BMW engines... designed and built in Dahlewitz Germany.
Pom's win that one, what a noise
The BUFF is still in service and its expected to remain in service for over 100 years!!!
NOW RETIRED I served in the R.A.F from 1977 till 1989 and refueled and towed theses BEAUTIFUL aircraft the Vulcan on to the pan and in and out of hangers at R.A.F WODDINGTON and other R.A.F. stations in thoses days. I sore the last day it flew IT CAME over my house. IT HERTS THAT WE WILL NEVER SEE THIS WONDERFULL AIRCRAFT TAKE TO THE AIR AGAIN !
I sat watching the fantastic beasts take off from Waddington in the late 70 s something I'll never forget.
Those engines What a HOWL 😊
BUF (Big ugly f****r ) nickname for the B 52says it all..... Vulcan is a handsome bastard
But not built to last... the Buff wins
Very cool.....both are awesome. Only one still in service....thanks to all who serve
Don't you miss that howl
Terribly 😕
my husband ,a slim 20yo then saw the vulcan take off at 1960 farnbrough air show, In those days very little restrictions and when it took off and went vertical everything shook including his stomach unforgetable
B52 starts in one postcode, wheels off in the next postcode.
Distinctive vulcan howl!!!
An unmistakable sound Jerry👍
The Vulcan was an incredible piece of kit that was years ahead of its time.
The Culcan takes off like a beautiful jet. The B-52 takes off like a bloated praying mantis. ✌️
